[SLIDESHOW] Dispatches from a Cross-Country Road Trip

I had my camera at the ready when I and my partner, Blaise, moved from Washington, D.C., to Los Angeles this past summer -- and drove the entire way. (Remember when I blogged about it?)

You can read more about my adventure in our upcoming Winter 2013 issue of Preservation magazine issue, but for now, explore some additional behind-the-scenes photos of my journey.

It felt good to be back home in Los Angeles, with familiar sights and favorite old landmarks, like the Hollywood sign, a fixture on the hills since 1923.

    Hi – I noticed one of the captions is incorrect. Academic Hall was not the first building erected on the University of Missouri campus, although it is correct that Academic Hall did burn to the ground in 1892. Seeing as how the university was founded in 1839, there was plenty of time to erect buildings prior to 1892…
