Happy Halloween! Most of the staff today has embraced the holiday and turned out in shades of red, orange and black. But there is an even bigger event going on today -- the kick-off of the National Preservation Conference in Spokane!

For those stranded by Sandy on the East Coast, we hope you'll be able to follow along on the Preservation Leadership Forum blog and via Twitter (hashtag #presconf). We're live-streaming the opening plenary tonight (starting at 5:15 PT/8:15 ET), featuring National Trust President Stephanie Meeks and speaker Annie Leonard. Learn more about Leonard's work with the Story of Stuff and read her post on the PreservationNation.org blog.

We'll also be live-streaming the the National Preservation Honor Awards on Friday and the closing plenary on Saturday. Watch all these events at www.preservationnation.org/conference.
